Down Hall wedding venue is a stunning luxury hotel and spa in Hatfield Heath, near Bishop’s Stortford on the Essex border. Less than an hour’s drive from London, the country house hotel dates back to 1322. As a wedding photographer I am spoilt for choice for locations for pictures with 110 acres of woodland, gardens and countryside surrounding the imposing Italianate mansion. Huge, old trees in the ground help create intimate pictures, with the water fountain and pillars also proving favourites with photographers. There is so much character inside Down Hall too with the intricate, decorated ceilings, traditional curtains and fire places. The historic hotel offers a huge range of homely suits and rooms and large entertaining spaces for the wedding ceremony and breakfast. And what better way to relax the night before your big day than unwind in the hotel’s lovely spa.
Grace and Andrew had a wonderful wedding at Down Hall. I really enjoyed sharing the day with them as their wedding photographer. As you can see from this collection, we loved capturing the individual style and history of the venue in the pictures. Walking down the ornate staircase before the ceremony was a special moment for the bride and I made some of the most special pictures from the day. The grand chandeliers and light fittings helped to make soft, atmospheric pictures.
Down Hall is a sparkling venue for weddings and civil partnerships and can cater for up to 150 guests at the ceremony. I will be recommending Down Hall weddings to my brides and grooms. Essex is a great location for wedding as it is home to beautiful countryside, while being close to London with good transport links to the rest of the country.
