GreyFrairs hotel and restaurant is a luxury wedding venue in Colchester, Essex. It boasts 26 rooms and suites and the bars and restaurants can cater for large or small, intimate wedding parties. Renovated in 2015, parts of GreyFriars date back to the 18th century. Other sections were restored and updated in the early 20th century and more recently. GreyFriars is a wonderful venue to photograph with the art deco style Cloisters restaurant, baroque bar, beautiful staircase, 18th century rooms and pretty terrace and gardens. The Grade-II listed property was previously a school, occupied by nuns and before that a private house. As a wedding venue, couples are blessed with the gorgeous Georgian building as a grand backdrop for stunning pictures.
Sally and Ashley looked so happy on their wedding day at GreyFriars and it was such a pleasure to share it with them. We were lucky to have a bright, dry day so their guests could mingle on the terrace and I could get some candid pictures. I love the large staircase at GreyFriars and couldn’t help getting lots of pictures of bride Sally walking down to the ceremony, with her beautiful white wedding dress cascading down the stairs. I also picked out the sash windows and character of the different rooms at GreyFriars to inspire photographs. I particularly like the picture of Sally and Ashley hugging on the terrace.
Essex has many lovely wedding venues, take a look at some of the others where Gregg has photographed couple’s special days. Essex offers a range of special wedding venues with converted barns, country houses, historic manor houses, luxury hotels and pubs.
GreyFriars has great reviews and I would certainly agree it is a brilliant wedding venue, however big or small your celebration will be.
